Paul Cezanne - Old Master on the way to the modern age
Born in Aix-en-Provence in 1839, the artist is a dazzling figure: the painter, who according to his father's wishes should have become a banker, has always developed. His art is also easily recognizable as a copy and canvas print. While the first phase of romantic-realistic images was characterized by a dark palette of colors, the mature artist, through Impressionism, developed his own unmistakable style, which often dissolves realistic forms and seems to be painted with a spatula.
Table, wineglass, apples: that's all that is needed for great art
The French painter has devoted himself to still life again and again. He arranged objects before putting them into the picture. What was the reason for this? Paul Cezanne wanted to put colors and shapes in the limelight, the realistic representation was of secondary importance. In "Still Life with Apples and Wineglass", he creates a table setting with a splendid color palette that ranges from different shades of blue and turquoise to brown and white. It inspires in its immediacy. The broken white of the fruit bowl, jugs and wall of the room - which can be seen behind the back of the chair - creates light focal points and beautiful contrasts. "Still Life with a Milk Jug", on the other hand, focuses on various large and small fruits and a brightly painted jug. Also interesting is the background wall, which shimmers from green to pink and blue in numerous bright shades.
Paintings that shine everywhere
Consider "Pigeonnier de Bellevue", a southern French countryside with stately home in the background. Thanks to the oblique lines and the shaded earth, from which trees and bushes rise, the subject is moving and alive. All the more so as the round tower and the frames of the house windows stand out brightly due to the sun. Neither humans nor animals are to be seen, and nevertheless lives this summer moment. Even lighter appears "Jourdans hat", the last painting by Paul Cezanne. As a canvas picture you get yourself with this motif sun, light and wonderful colors in the house.
Treat yourself to famous paintings in perfect reproduction
Cezanne, who painted in Paris, in the studio of his inherited house Jas de Bouffan as well as in nature, tried again and again to capture the intensity of moods and colors. The "Quarry of Bibemus" is a good example of this, even if the color palette initially does not make one think of the painter. "Trees and Houses", in which the artist lays striking, bare trees as a grid in front of an elegant country house, corresponds to the increasingly lighter color palette. Following Pissaro's advice, he increasingly painted in the primary colors red, yellow, and blue as well as their gradations.
